The gallery is thrilled to announce our new show: Niki Kriese Ghost Stories. The exhibition is comprised of a group of new, highly chromatic abstract paintings illuminating the resonant sensations of specific moments of living.
Niki Kriese lives and works in the Hudson Valley. She has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Niki has shown her work in solo and group shows all over the country and is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies. Her projects have been discussed in Hyperallergic, CultureVolt, and many other print and digital publications.
This will be her first show with the gallery.
My work is abstract but derives structure from the gesture of bodies and the context of landscape. . . Having a body is a constant process of pushing forward and then repairing, and the awareness of our presence, of our realness, becomes more evident the longer we occupy it. It’s the experiential memory of this body, rather than the appearance, that informs the direction of these images. My presence in front of the work as maker is mirrored by the viewer’s, and echoes the shared fact of being human. -NK
